Reykjavik Iceland what to do

Iceland! A safe country, was one of the safest during Covid, out of the way of most global issues and such a beautiful country, surely worth a visit.

Hallgrímskirkja

Hallgrímskirkja is the church of Hallgrímur, it is a Lutheran (Church of Iceland) parish church in Reykjavík, Iceland. At 74.5 metres (244 ft) tall, it is the largest church in Iceland and among the tallest structures in the country.

Hallgrímur Pétursson was an Icelandic poet and a minister at Hvalsneskirkja and Saurbær in Hvalfjörður. The most awesome of the Icelandic poets, the Hallgrímskirkja in Reykjavík and the Hallgrímskirkja in Saurbær are named in his honour. He was one of the most influential pastors during the Age of Orthodoxy.

The man who built this never lived to see it finished & I lived to see Iceland burn a massive hole in my wallet! WARNING Iceland is expensive.

Good place to go as a green country during Covid.

There are cool little buildings in Iceland.

Here are 10 landmarks worthy of a tinker, in the capital and beyond.

The Land of Fire and Ice has plenty of beautiful views and you don’t even need to look far, this is just off the Capital. It’s got all incredible landscapes and natural wonders which lure visitors to return time and time again – waterfalls, snow-capped volcanoes, dreamy fjords and iceberg-studded lagoons.

But its very cold.

The southerly lowlands of the island average around 0 °C (32 °F) in winter, while the north averages around −10 °C (14 °F). The lowest temperatures in the northern part of the island range from around −25 to −30 °C (−13 to −22 °F). The lowest temperature on record is −39.7 °C (−39.5 °F).

And sometimes in the year its always day, other times, it’s always night

This was the view from my Iceland hotel balcony, kind of felt like it was off a Christmas card..
