Quick Beginners Guide to Crusader Kings 3

CK3 is not an easy game to get the hang of, but once you have the hang of it, it’s awesome! This guide will help you understand how to play the base game without thinking, much…

As a beginner I’d recommend starting as a set character in the earliest year. One of the Norse perhaps.

Picking a Lifestyle;

Always pick Wealth Focus and work on all of Avaricious, then move onto something else, you can change your focus when you get a new point later on, but for now just get greedy. The game can be almost unplayable when you’re out of money – basically you’ll just start losing.

County Control;

This always pops up, to sort this, one at a time, work on the lowest number of control first, to do this click the county from this list with the lowest score, right click the county coat of arms to locate the county, select your council, select ‘increase control in county’, then click the county. Your Marshall will then get to work.

Factions;

I used to spend ages trying to stop factions rising up constantly, until I realised you should only be bothered by them and not go to war when the red fist icon appears at the top.

The best way to deal with them is focus on the first person’s portrait at the top of the list, they have the most standing in the faction and most the time the faction will fold or lose a lot of power when you get rid of them.

I usually sway them if their dislike to you is less than -50 and murder them if its higher.

Murder;

Always do this when your money is 70 or over. If you have this much you can normally bribe people to help.

To do this click on the dagger icon at the bottom right once you have started the murder scheme then below their image on the right it will have the option to ‘invite’ then just select all on the list and tick the box for ‘bribe’.

If you can get it above 50% you’re likely to kill the victim.

They were the key points I wanted to cover to make your gameplay easier, the rest is conquest, try to take land close to yours and use your religious folk in court to fabricate nearby claims on countries that are weaker than you to achieve this.

If you can build a large enough land mass eventually you can become an emperor and not have to worry about your county being split up on succession. Also, to do this don’t forget to pay your way to make countries and countries when they become available, this is more likely if everything is close together and joint in your realm.
